Simplified approach to sacrospinous ligament suspension of vaginal vault prolapse

Ghoniem, G.M.

With an increasing elderly population, transvaginal reconstructive pelvic surgery for female pelvic prolapse offers an excellent approach. There is less morbidity, fast recovery and high success rate. The blind forcible suture placement in the sacrospinous ligament, close to vital structure, limits the widespread use of this technique.

In this video, a simplified, controlled approach to sacrospinous fixation is demonstrated using suture capturing devcice (Capio, Boston Scientific/Microvasive). The anatomical landmarks and step-by-step approach is presented.
